Venske & Spänle

The artists Venske & Spänle return to the Ana Serratosa Gallery to present their new project: "As if we were alone". A project that makes us reflect on the world around us, in the times in which we live. The exhibition immerses us in a marble universe, where their sculptures, made with marble from the quarries of Lasa and Carrara (Italy), behave like a trompe l'oeil, pretending to deceive the eye of the beholder with their textures and shapes. The sculptures, on the one hand, rise from the ground, as if the marble we step on becomes liquid and creates natural forms that seek to break the horizontality of it. On the other hand, an invasion of sculptures, takes over the walls and floor, also seeking a mimicry with them, with a voluble appearance that seems to want to detach from the surface, creating "tentacles" that resemble living beings. This deception does not end there, since once we get to know the nature of these forms, we find the reality of the cold marble, which breaks with any preconceived idea of soft and fickle figures.
