Carlos Franco

Maestro de la levedad

In this exhibition, we are immersed in the particular aesthetic sensibility of Carlos Franco, who reviews the history of painting from melancholy and pain, combining them with mannerism in a sophisticated combination of images. Sensuality, curves and intense colours form part of the mythological landscapes, treated lyrically, which form part of this exhibition. Carlos Franco proposes a dialogue between the figurative and the abstract, altering the classical balances proposed, where the semantic importance resides in the centre, and seeks to reinforce the marginal by seeking effects of surprise.

MASTER OF LIGHTNESS

MASTER OF LIGHTNESS

FERNANDO CASTRO FLÓREZ

In Carlos Franco's work there is an intense concern for the history of painting, which he incarnates by moving away from a purely monumental determination. The particular aesthetic sensitivity of Carlos Franco could be framed within the mannerism for which the conflict is manifested in the brightness of the darkness and in the proliferation of symbolic details around the subject.

While classical writing tries to balance in the phrase that which is central and that which is taken as lateral, Mannerism is an attempt to alter that hierarchical balance by reinforcing the marginal, building by derivation, seeking the effects of surprise. In the artist there is a mannerism of gestures, references and color, in which the ornamental and the discarnate can go together or pose a radical dialogue of figuration and abstraction.
