The Turia River Gardens hosted the lighting intervention "Alameda Llum. Three Places of Light," where moving projections transformed the surroundings with geometry and light. This intervention is an evolution of the project presented in Valencia, "Alameda Llum, Valencia 2012", which initially featured static projections inviting the viewer to walk and discover. Now, it presents places of light with movement and sound for us to contemplate.
Javier Riera (1964, Avilés, lives and works in Madrid):
“Landscape is a central element in my entire career. I am a bit in a tradition of artists who consider landscape as a space of knowledge in which one discovers the exterior and the interior at the same time. A space of knowledge in which a reflection between the inner world and what one has before one's eyes.
I try to take the viewer to a state of contemplation and I usually say that in which there is calm and amazement at the same time, that is a little bit the intention. To propose a different state and also the opening of an experience of visibility. The opening or a broadening of our perception towards the less physical, towards the energy present in nature. Let's say that for me, geometry is a bridge between our inner self and nature. And that is what I intend to bring to the viewer.”
Moving projections of light and geometries transform the environment into places of unique experiences, magnifying the natural spaces already darkened by the sunset.
This intervention is a further step of the first project of these characteristics that Riera carried out in Valencia, “Alameda Llum, Valencia 2012”, at that time they were static projections that invited the viewer to walk to discover. Now they are places of light that lead us to silence and contemplation.
