Markus Linnenbrink
Markus Linnenbrink (Dortmund, Germany, 1961. Lives and works in New York)
Although he began painting with oil, resin and powder pigments quickly became his trademark. His creations, on canvas or on photographs, are made by "dripping", a technique used by Pollock, creating lines that seem to be random, but in the case of Linnenbrink, are created with control and precision. His installations of whole rooms full of dripping colours have been made in buildings all over the world.
His sculptural work is composed of objects showing layers and layers of pigmented resin, and even introducing objects between them.
Linnenbrink's work is definitely marked by colour saturation, as well as by a controlled randomness that results in organic and spontaneous works.
