"Una nueva dimensión espacial"

Francisco Carpio

The exhibition "A new spatial dimension" housed sculptures and installations of eight great national and international artists: David Nash (Esher, England, 1945); Iván Navarro (Santiago de Chile, 1972); Martina von Meyenburg (Zurich, Switzerland, 1975); Bill Thompson (Ipswich, Massachusetts - 1957); Jaume Plensa (Barcelona, 1955); Massimo Bartolini (Cecina, Italy, 1962); Stephan Balkenhol (Fritzlar, Germany, 1957) and Joan Brossa (Barcelona, January 19, 1919 - December 30, 1998). Eight authors whose trajectory and style converged for the first time in the same art space, with pieces that coexisted among themselves surpassing, modifying and enriching the concepts traditionally associated with sculptural objects. In the words of the curator of the exhibition, Francisco Carpio, in this exhibition "the works started from the pictorial plane to end up acquiring a third dimension".

A NEW SPATIAL DIMENSION

FRANCISCO CARPIO

A new spatial dimension, the exhibition proposed by Ana Serratosa, affects the concept of sculpture as a new landscape that the three-dimensional forms within the visual arts. This establishes formal and conceptual analogies that, in some cases, start from the pictorial plane to end up acquiring a third dimension.

In this way the exhibition presents an attractive and diverse selection of eight artists who live perfectly together, and who, working according to these changing spatial and installation strategies, overcome, modify and enrich the concepts traditionally associated with sculptural objects.
