Fabrizio Corneli

"Speed of Light"

Jaime Siles

The Italian author Fabrizio Corneli returned five years after his last show presented in Valencia with "Speed of Light". An exhibition formed by light installations that, playing with light and shadow, unveiled figures, silhouettes and drawings that transformed space; giving rise to a unique art, between painting and sculpture. This painting without painting, and this sculpture without volume, was obtained through the creation of intricate, simple-looking technological pieces in which the artist linked artisanal manufacture with mathematical calculations. A very logical explanation that in the eyes of the visitor was shown as a subtle trick of magic executed by a true magician of light. Out of any existing artistic current, but at the core of the experimentation on visual perception, Corneli suggested immaterial "light boxes", endowed with a chromaticism that was almost absent in his works. The Italian author, in this sample, diluted the figure, before concrete, in dynamic and abstract compositions, whose appearance seems extracted from the world of dreams.
