Carlos Franco

"Pintura fruta"

Pablo Jiménez Burillo

The exhibition "Fruit Painting" gathered pieces belonging to the most recent stage of the Spanish artist Carlos Franco. Paintings among which predominates the large format, mixed media, digital printing and, above all, the chromatic richness that has characterized the work of the author from Madrid since its inception, in the Madrid of the 70s. In "Fruit Painting" the visitor could make a tour of scenes and characters from disparate worlds, in which apparently random spots of colour combine in harmony and find their inspiration in famous moments of literature and the most fantastic mythology. References to the classical world, religion, visions and dreams were present in an exhibition to which Pablo J. Burillo, MAPFRE Foundation cultural director, described as: "a world that has its roots in the history of the painting, in the iconography of our different traditions and, in turn, in other more mysterious and dark magics in which everything seems to play ".
