"Paso a dos: de la escultura al espacio digital"

Fernando Castro Florez

In the exhibition "Step by two: from sculpture to the digital space", Jorge Arxé offers us an organic visual impact that is close to the movement itself, with sinuous figures that stand out from the canvas because of their intense color. With a notable concern for balance and proportion, the artist plays with the constructions on a flat material that nevertheless leads us towards the seduction of the volumetric.

STEP TO TWO: FROM SCULPTURE TO DIGITAL SPACE

FERNANDO CASTRO FLÓREZ

"... Jorge Arxé has deployed, in recent years, a new block of works that establish an important discontinuity with respect to his previous sculptural work.

There is no such drastic cut, on the contrary, there is a close relationship between what develops computationally and what previously forced him to fight with metals. It is important to bear in mind that this artist has already developed, for years, work processes in video and that he does not resort to the digital image carried by "fashion" but as the result of a personal poetic evolution.

Precisely Arxé has pointed out that if his sculptures tend towards poetic lyricism, in digital works he looks for "a visual impact that is more organic and closer to the movement itself".
