"Las puertas"

Francisco Carpio

In this exhibition, Xavier Grau shows us the commitment and perseverance with painting. This, his, is clearly indebted to the school in New York, Pollock and Abstract Expressionism in its American side. In the words of the curator of this exhibition, Francisco Carpio: "our artist doesn’t need to resort to elements or motives of a figurative nature, nor to refer to any type or model of referentiality, which increasingly distances him from those allusions of figuration that appeared in the paintings at the beginning of his career, the truth is that, equally as a good abstract painter, he pays tribute, more or less seer, to nature and landscape as sources from which he drinks and hydrates all abstract painting ". For all this, the viewer is facing an interpretively pictorial artist, making this act his way and way of life. Undoubtedly, this exhibition shows what is no longer shown, to a painter with the firm conviction that painting has always been the beginning and end of everything.
