"Hago, deshago y rehago"

Alfonso de la Torre

Under the title "I do, undo and redo" this exhibition held in 2017 brought together works by eight international female artists: Louise Bourgeois (Paris, France 1911 - New York, USA 2010); Ida Applebroog (New York, USA 1929); Farideh Lashai (Rasht, Iran 1944 - Tehran, Iran 2013); Phyllida Barlow (Newcastle, United Kingdom 1944); Carmen Calvo (Valencia, Spain 1950); Pipilotti Rist (Grabs, Switzerland 1962); Kara Walker (Stockton, USA 1969); and Françoise Vanneraud (Nantes, France 1984). In it, paintings, sculptures, photographs, collages and audio-visual installations were scheduled. Disparity of styles and techniques but, above all, in relation to the theme of the pieces. The most veteran authors coincided in contributing a more autobiographical perspective to their work, while in the youngest we saw the reflection of the most social aspects of life. To the sexuality, violence and slavery in the work of Kara Walker, was joined the reading of the past through the "reinvention" of objects of Carmen Calvo, or the reflection of the multiple strata of the existence of the now deceased Iranian painter Farideh Lashai.

COLECTIVA

I DO, UNDO AND REDO

ALFONSO DE LA TORRE

Narrations of women artists such systems of meaning, murmurs between the silence of a language incinerated by mourning, the past or noise. Oblivion and the verb of pain.

Accurate stories of narration, still awaiting stories, hidden stories of artists, travelers between rage and desire, sometimes imbued with a strong iconoclasm, frequenting a special relationship with images.
